SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN
Perez Hilton writes a blog that focuses on celebrity gossip, fashion, and news. He updates the blog daily and posts almost every hour with a competely different story than the last. He integrates social media into his posts well. Readers can easily share a blog post by clicking on one of the many social media and email icons on each post. All of the posts are filed under different categories so that readers can easily find stories they are looking for.

Hungry Girl Por Vida is a popular food blog that makes it easy for readers to create unique and delicious meals. The posts include beautiful photos of the ingredients and recipes for readers to use. Social media is intigrated into the blog well because she allows for comments and social interaction on each post. Readers can also share what they liked on social media by clicking the icons on the side of the page. Hungry Girl uses Pinterest to display her food and link to her blog. Someone searching on Pinterest will see her high quality and original photos and likely be driven to her site.

Olivia Palermo is a fashion blogger and beauty expert. She uses social media similarly to other blogs, including comment boxes, tags, and share buttons. One thing that is unique, however, is that she shows how many people shared a particular post on social media and what platform they used. She only offers 3 platforms to share on - Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Pinterest seems to be the most popular with up to 50,000 'pins' on each post. This is helpful to the blogger because she can see what platforms her readers like best and then focus her marketing on those platforms.

Pinterest is designed to spread photos on a social level. It serves as a quick way to research trends, spread ideas, and showcase products and brands. Photos don't necessarily need to be high quality and original, but they should be to add credibility to your site. When people click on pictures, they're taken directly to your site. Simple as that. A huge benefit of using Pinterest to drive traffic to your site is that there are very few steps involved in getting to your site. For example, with Facebook or Twitter, people might see an article but are unlikely to click on the article, find the author's profile, and then go to that author's website. There are too many steps and it makes it more difficult for people to get to your site. Event planners are always searching for what's trendig in the industry. Therefore, a major place they hangout is Pinterest. They can quickly scroll through hundreds of photos and pick out the ones they like. If my photos are attractive and my ideas are fresh, more people will re-pin (share) them. The more times my articles are re-pinned, the more likely it is that they will be seen by professionals in the events industry.
Linkedin is a network of 65 million business professionals around the world and that number is growing everyday. Linkedin has a newsfeed similar to the newsfeed on Facebook, where users can post articles, status updates, and questions for other professionals in their network. By posting articles that I've written, hopefully professionals will understand that I have a strong knowledge of and passion for the events industry. It also gives them examples of my writing styles, skills, and interests. Linkedin is a perfect place to network with potential employers. According to Forbes, 41% of people get jobs through networking. That means that Linkedin would be the perfect place to market myself, which is why I would post my site to Linkedin fairly often.
Twitter is a short message communicator tool that allows you to send out messages to your followers. Tweets can include links to other content, such as your website, blog, PDFs, etc. Twitter can be the perfect place to spark short conversations about topics related to the events industry. As you post more tweets and follow more people who might be potential professional contents, the more your content will be seen. There are so many tweets posted every minute so it can be difficult to keep up with. Perhaps automating your posts would make it easier for you to post often enough to remain relavent. I will use Twitter to post a question or interesting thought related to the articles I write. Hopefully that will spark up a conversation with others. I will then link to the article on my website. Another unique feature of Twitter is how easy it is to share tweets. Readers can simply retweet something they like and then all of their followers can see it. This is a great way to spread content fast and hopefully drive traffic to my website quicker and more efficiently.
The Plan
Each time I write a new blog post, I will post that to Pinterest. I will write 2-3 blog posts per week so I will be posting to Pinterest 2-3 times per week as well. My boards will include 'Technology", "Sustainability", and "Trends".
Linkedin recommends posting on the newsfeed, but not as often as other social media platforms like Twitter. Linkedin is meant to be professional, so I will have to be picky with what gets posted. I want to post my best content because I will interacting with potential employers directly. I will post to Linked once a week.

Tweets are posted very often. Since they're shorter, quicker messages, they come more often than a blog post. I will post to Twitter at least once per day if not more. My content will not only be about my website and blog, but will also include information from other sites. I will use proper tags that relate to my industry in hopes of event professionals seeing my posts.
I will use Twitter to share this article about the little black book of corporate event planning.

Challenges
One of the main challenges I will face is not enough followers. It can be easy to gain followers, but how will you know if they are the right followers? I want to be seen and heard by event professional more than the general public. Another challenge I will face is keeping up with content. It is time consuming to keep up with blog posts, social media posts, and networking with people. It can also be a challenge to be original and develop thoughtful content since I am new to the industry and my career is just beginning.
